Laughing Gull is a medium sized gull from North and South America, which can be found abundantly along the southern Atlantic Coasts and the Gulf of Mexico. They rarely wander away from coastal areas but occasionally they may be spotted among human habited areas including parking lots and dumps. Laughing gull name seems to have been derived from the similarity of their call with human laugh.

With a length of 38-40 cm and a wingspan of 100-110 cm, it is easy to identify laughing gulls. They are black slate grey birds with white underparts, black wingtips, and black head in the breeding seasons. Their wings darker than the wings of similarly sized other gulls. They have along and red colored bill. Their breeding habitats are in the coastal marshes and ponds along the Atlantic Coast of North America, the Caribbean and northern South America. Northern species migrate to southern areas during winter. They nestle in large nests made from grasses and on the ground. Laughing gulls are usually omnivores like most other gulls, often scavenging and catching small preys.

House Finch is a medium-sized finch that can be spotted abundantly in the cities, suburbs, parking lots, roadsides and gardens. Most of the house finches are permanent residents. Their common breeding habitats are urban, suburban and semi-open areas in the East as well West from Southern Canada to Northern Florida. Throughout the year, house finches can be found visiting bird feeders at various locations in the cities.

Adult male birds have a long square-tipped brown tail. They have brown colored back with a deep grey shading on the wing feathers. Their bill is short and thick with top rounded edge. Head, neck and shoulders are reddish, red color may sometimes extend down to stomach and the back. Intensity of colors in male birds varies with the season, color being often derived from the berries and fruits of its diet. Their call is a rapid, cheery warble or variety of chirps. Herring Gull is a large gull that is one of the most abundant and well-known gulls along the shores of Asia, Western Europe and North America. Herring birds of colder regions migrate further south in winter seasons. However, many birds are permanent residents on the lower Great Lakes, on the east coast of North America and on the shores of North Sea. They can also be found abundantly in inland areas, garbage dumps and city areas.
Herring gull is a medium to large and the most basic seagull with white head and underparts, light grey back, black wing tips with white spots (known as mirrors) and a yellow bill with red spot near the tip. Their legs are normally pink and sometimes yellowish in some of the species. Juveniles are mainly brown with darker streaks and with dark bill and eyes. They make variety of loud, bugle-like, alarm type or laughing calls, which is well-known in the entire Northern Hemisphere. They are omnivorous birds and feed by scavenging from garbage dumps, landfill sites and sewage overflows. Size of Herring Gull:Weight 800-1250 grams, Length 55-65 cm and Wingspan 136-146 cm.

Double-crested Cormorant, member of Cormorant family of seabirds, is a widespread species of birds across North America from Alaska down to Florida and Mexico. During winter, they migrate to ice-free zones along coastal areas.

Double-crested Cormorant is an all black except a small patch of orange-yellow facial skin. They get a small double crest of black and white feathers during winter seasons. They are a large waterbird with a stocky body, a long neck, webbed feet, and a blunt, medium-sized bill. Their plumage is dark colored. They mainly feed on fish, sometimes on amphibians and crustaceans, and hunt by swimming and diving in water. Since their feathers are not waterproof, they dry out their feathers before flying. Dark-eyed Junco is a small grayish American Sparrow and one of the best known species of junco genus of birds. They are widespread across most of the temperate North America and during summer, they can be found far away into the Arctics. Like their close relatives Fox Sparrow, dark-eyed junco is a much variable species. With their plain patterns, dark hood and white outer tail feathers, they can be easily distinguished from other similar varieties. Dark-eyed Junco is a medium-sized sparrow. Adult junco has a grey head, neck and chest, grey or brown wings and back, pale pinkish bill and white belly. Males birds have darker and more conspicuous markings than the females. Their song is a musical ?trill? with a series of hard and short twittering. They forage on grounds and eat insects and seeds.
