Types of Birds-Based on the Food they eat
Birds are often classified by the kind of food they eat. Carnivorous birds are also known as prey or predators. Difference can also be made among the types of birds, on the basis of animals they feed upon. However one thing is common the bigger a bird is the large quantity of prey they need as feed. The size of animals they need as their feed is reflected by a bird’s physical appearance. Those types of birds which feed on larger animal have strong nails and beak for eating their prey.
Some birds take insects as their feed. These birds spend a lot of time on ground searching for the largest insect they can get as prey like grasshoppers and mantises. Mississippi kites, American kestrels, owl, merlins are certain examples of such kind of birds. Aquatic animal like fishes are taken as feed by certain Raptors. These sorts of birds typically live near the coastlines.
